Dental Lab Precious Metal Recovery

Dental Labs have long been a source of precious metals for refiners. The usual metals recovered are gold, silver, platinum and palladium. The amount of metal recovered from the dental scrap depends upon the alloys used by the lab as well as their effectiveness in recovering the precious metal scrap.

The precious metals come to the refiners in all forms. Scrap can be generated in the manufacturing of crowns, bridges or other appliances for the dentists that the labs serve and are but one source of the precious metal waste. Grindings off of the bench that the dental lab technician works at as well as the filter bags that are the final trap for all of the suction units that usually feed into one area are another source of value. Even the carpeting beneath the grinding tables can often be a source of income from the precious metal dust that gets trapped while the technicians are working.

Castings, casting rings and molds contain some amounts of precious metals. It is not uncommon for a lab to send a refiner anywhere from 25 to 100 pounds or more of either castings or investment in order to recover several ounces of various precious metals. Even the alumina oxide that is used in de-burring some finished pieces as it acts as a small sand blaster; can yield some value if handled correctly.

The amounts of the waste sent to a refiner do not necessarily determine the amount of precious metal recovered. Different types of waste contain different percentages of precious metals.

But, the real question is not, “How much precious metal does your scrap contain?” Instead, the real question is, “Who do you trust with your precious metal in order to receive a fair and honest return after realistic charges are deducted for their services?”

Precious Metal Refining Services has been in the business of refining precious metals for over 29 years. So longevity must mean something. It's hard to get a second chance at a first impression. We do not pay for advertising to run an ad to tell you how great we are; nor do we expect you to believe all the hype from advertising or trade shows. Almost all of our business comes from either personal relationships developed over the years or from referrals from satisfied customers.

We often suggest that prospective customers split a shipment of scrap in order to keep a present refiner "honest". This will accomplish two things. One is that you may feel more secure with your present refiner and secondly, you might have found another viable alternative for your precious metal refining; that being Precious Metal Refining Services.

Are there other good refiners out in the market place? Of course there are. Are we the best refinery for you? Perhaps. We do not make such outlandish claims of "100% returns" or "payment within 3-5 days" or "we're the biggest and best". Our returns have a way of informing our customers of the real value of Precious Metal Refining Services. We like to say that we specialize in that which others do not; and that is repeat customers!

The fact is that we charge only 5% of the net recoverable value and return to you 95% of the recovered value. We can do this because of being a division of Progressive Environmental Services. They absorb some of our overhead, which ultimately benefits you. Our turn around time is 20 working days, as we run your metals three times to ascertain a true result as is required by our ISO Standards
All of our analysis and testing is performed using procedures that are governed by our quality operating program.

All of our measuring equipment and instrumentation are standardized by the National Institute of Standard Technology (NIST). We maintain strict controls, procedures and testing as is required by our ISO 9002 Quality Certification. In 1996, our refinery became the first United States based refiner to earn an ISO quality certification.

We provide containers for the collection of your precious metal wastes, pay for the transportation to and from your facility and give you a detailed refining report when settlement is made. Various types of payment are available.

We understand cost savings, value, reliability, accuracy and environmental safety when handling your precious metal scrap. While other's advertise their "honesty and integrity", we’re a bit different; we practice it!
